[McKersin and his project company performs June 16th]
The Bang Group presents Dance Now|Boston's 4th annual season with new works by Boston choreographers Ian Berg, Jimena Bermejo, Carey MacKinley and McKersin Previlus alongside New York company LMnO3.
Inspired by the supper clubs of yore, the program will allow diverse Boston dance artists to be commissioned to create exciting new work for our city's cabaret stages. David Parker himself has created 3 evening length works through Dance Now|NYC and found himself invigorated and transformed by creating sophisticated dance for these relaxed settings which are primarily associated with food, drink and entertainment.
Additionally, TBG will present the inaugural Presenting the first Robert B. and Joan H. Parker Compassionate Action Award to social justice activist, Stanley N. Griffith.
Conceived and directed by Tina Croll and Jamie Cunningham, From the Horse's Mouth celebrates "the heart and history of dance" with outstanding dancers and choreographers of all ages and traditions, performing together and telling their extraordinary personal stories. It has been performed nationwide with local and nationally known artists. Participants will be coached by Tina and Jamie through performance techniques focused on entwining storytelling and improvisational dance. No two performances will be the same.
In bringing this production to Boston, along with other elements of this "25 & Dancing On" year, The Dance Complex celebrates Boston's rich dance history, and the vibrant and diverse dance community both within our building and throughout the Greater Boston area.
