"The Block is what people of color often refer to as the hot zones within their neighborhoods. Contrary to belief, these "hot zones" don't always necessarily mean where all the negative experiences happen..it is also where outdoor parties happen, healing, community gatherings, the street playground and the creation of makeshift dance space. As people of color, we are very musical people and music has always been our vehicle through the many issues we encountered within the states. This is what I will be bringing on to the stage. The piece will feature originally composed music and rhythms with genres of music that date back to slavery and all the way to hip-hop today."
